P+A Design | Behind the Scenes

When creating Phoebe and Alex’s mood board, it was important for us to prioritize their desire to have an overall low-key and intimate feel, while incorporating elements that tied into the 70’s contemporary design of their home. In formulating their design plan, we took a more minimalist, refined approach- focusing on a neutral color palette, lush blooms and some stylized design accent pieces. We planned to bring their mood board to life by adding some specialty lighting to the outdoor dining space, incorporating simple yet elegant tableware, and designing understated + modern floral arrangements. We infused their design with a neutral color palette incorporating taupes, grays and some soft peach hues accented by darker colors.

Phoebe and Alex exchanged vows overlooking the ocean, at a space that held special meaning for them. We selected ceremony chairs with natural woven textures and a wood tone that would blend in with the surrounding landscape. Heirloom Table kept their floral installation simple and low to the ground, which added the perfect touch of softness and femininity to the space without distracting from the gorgeous ocean views. She designed a half-moon shape that would encircle Phoebe and Alex as they said “I do.” Phoebe’s bouquet was the perfect blend of neutral, modern, and classic beauty. We loved the large, textural blooms ranging in shades of white and blush.

Phoebe and Alex hosted reception in their newly redesign backyard. They installed a gorgeous deck, featuring a built in fireplace and wrap around seating that provided the perfect spot for guests to sit and enjoy cocktails upon arrival. It was important for Phoebe and Alex to create a communal dining experience for their guests, so we designed a u-shaped layout and selected a family style menu with their caterer. From Theoni Rentals we selected modern wood tables and black chairs with cane detailing. Glass lanterns and string bulbs created the perfect mood lighting and relaxed ambiance. For their tableware, we selected simple and elegant pieces. The color palette remained neutral and understated with taupe plates, eggshell napkins, and sleek gold flatware.

Heirloom Table’s florals and candle treatment added so much life and movement to the space! We kept tabletop florals minimal, to ensure there’d be plenty of room for a family style dinner service. Each table was topped with satellite arrangements and neutral taper candles. In front of the main table, Heirloom design an installation that created a growing effect, surrounding the table with dreamy, floral goodness… *heart eyes*!

Creating Phoebe and Alex’s wedding design honestly just felt like a fun, collaborative project. They have impeccable taste, which made our job easy and their thoughtfulness + trust in our expertise made for so much ease throughout the process. We could not be more happy for them!
