Lauren + Michael | Green Acre

There are some couples who stand out to us as being true angels—as people who not only see us as their planners but who we feel truly valued by as people. Lauren and Michael are one of those couples. When I look back on their wedding planning process, it was filled with thoughtfulness, intention, and a true excitement to have everyone they love in San Diego—a city that was so meaningful to them and their love story.

When creating Lauren + Michael’s mood board, we knew we wanted to incorporate the industrial meets earthy/organic design that Green Acre is known for, but also cater it to their personal style — modern, clean and refined. We placed a big emphasis on greenery and white florals, which added a lot of life, movement and texture. We focused on an overall monochromatic color story throughout florals, signage, and rentals.

The emotion captured in their first look was so sweet—we loved looking back through their day and seeing how much excitement and joy that moment held for them.

Their ceremony was held in Green Acre’s garden– a tranquil space booming with crops, greenery, and natural stand stone. In order to make the ceremony design feel modern and consistent with their dining space, we thoughtfully curated a rental, floral, and signage plan. Fawn Lettering created a matte black welcome sign with clean white text, displayed on a metal grid and placed at the entrance to the garden. As guests rounded the corner to the pergola covered seating area, they were met with rows of sleek, white bentwood chairs that brightened up the space.

Organic Flora’s ultra modern arbor design featured black stands complete with a clean asymmetrical floral installation showcasing reflexed roses, ranunculus, spray roses, hydrangea, dahlias, anemones and minimal greenery. Lauren’s all white bouquet was designed with tons of texture, depth, and a clean shape.

Lauren and Michael were so fun to design with because they were open to new and innovative ideas. They were one of our first couples who were up for going for a more modern look, even though at the time there weren’t many other weddings to point to for minimalist, monochromatic inspiration. They trusted our suggestions, were willing to take a few risks and splurge on a couple key rentals to be able to accomplish the overall aesthetic they were wanting to achieve. We selected Folklore’s modern white farm tables to pair with their bentwoods and added matte black flatware as well as gorgeous light green chargers from Greystone Table to their tablescape- incorporating the smallest touch of color that still complimented all the other neutral tones.

When designing their reception signage, we knew we needed name cards that had meal indicators for their plated meal. Alyssa, of Fawn Lettering, had the brilliant idea to add meal indicators that were super subtle and indistinguishable from the card design. Modern thin lines were placed in varying positions made for purposeful, design-driven accents to indicate what main dish each guest had selected.

Dear Lover’s sunset session with Lauren and Michael did such a great job of capturing their true essence. We’re obsessed with the golden lighting, beautiful California landscape, and the genuine smiles on their faces. We’re so grateful to have had the chance to bring their modern, unique vision to life and have the pleasure of getting to know them!
