A+J Design | Behind the Scenes

When creating Angeline and Jose’s mood board, a major design goal was to to curate a clean, modern aesthetic that tied in some boho touches and created a relaxed, laid back experience for their guests. For their color palette, we pulled a few different shades of ivory and tan, complimented by a rich terracotta hue and a couple muted warm pink shades to play off the peachy walls of Moniker Cocktail Co. We also added in a deep hunter green to contrast the warm, neutral tones.

Moniker’s North Promenade was the perfect backdrop for Angeline and Jose’s wedding. We pulled inspiration from the surrounding arch details when planning their ceremony rental pulls. We decide on a statement arbor backdrop, pulling in a screen rental piece from Folklore Rentals. To keep the arbor as the visual focal point, we selected simple wood and iron cafe chairs for guest seating.

Jill, of Layered Vintage, designed a vibrant, bloom heavy installation to complete the arched backdrop piece. The aisle was flanked by two textural arrangements, composed of pampas grass and eucalyptus. Angeline’s bouquet was designed using the full range of her color palette and a variety of floral ingredients. We love the way this large scale, boho bouquet completed her bridal styling.

For Angeline’s signage, we pulled together just a couple elements that we knew would make a big visual impact on her reception design. Alyssa, of Fawn Lettering, designed an arched bar menu complete with a simple modern font and peachy color palette. Atop each guests place setting sat a half arch dinner menu. These featured A+J’s pop of Hunter green and displayed the mouthwatering menu from Miho.

We were lucky enough to have some great venue-provided reception furniture to build off of. Moniker Cocktail Co has a long, warm wood dining table built into their patio space and modern, industrial metal chairs for guest seating. We pulled in rustic-modern tableware goods from Catalog Atelier to complete the space. We selected a terracotta dinner plate, topped with a speckled salad plate. Also featured was simple good flatware, a neutral napkin, and cane wrapped tumblers.

Florals really brought the reception space to life. Layered Vintage created long, low centerpieces that thoughtfully combined a range of colors, fresh blooms, and dried elements. Space between arrangements was filled with bud vases and ribbed glass votives. Jill also designed a statement bar installation that utilized pampas grass, roses, carnations, and more!

Even though it planning process with Angeline and Jose was short, they made it so sweet! They were clear about their vision, trusted our opinions, and selected and incredible team of vendors!
